Manchester United Transfer News: Latest on Harry Kane, Matteo Darmian Rumours

Tom SunderlandJan 11, 2016

Manchester United target Harry Kane has no intention of leaving Tottenham Hotspur amid reports of interest from around Europe, while Matteo Darmian said he's "happy" at Old Trafford despite a stuttered start.

According to the Daily Mirror's Dave Kidd, Kane was asked whether he envisions his long-term future at White Hart Lane while speculation of Manchester United's and Real Madrid's interest in his services grows: "Yes definitely. There are always going to be rumours flying around but I'm happy here. The club is in a good shape, we have a great future and I'm raring to go so we will see what happens. We have got a lot of young players raring to go who are getting better with each game."

Kane came off the bench to rescue a 2-2 draw for Spurs in their FA Cup tie against Leicester City on Sunday, leading ex-England striker Alan Shearer to suggest Mauricio Pochettino's frontman was worth "£80 million to £90 million":

Praise from such an esteemed Premier League figure shows Kane is certainly leaving the right kind of impression, but Manchester United will struggle to lure their man to Old Trafford.

Sunday's strike was also Kane's 50th goal for Spurs, and Shearer went on to compare his worth with that of several other notable Premier League players who have cost heavy amounts in the past:

The 22-year-old's current deal at White Hart Lane isn't due to expire until 2020, but that hasn't stopped the club from reportedly offering their star a new £75,000-a-week deal, according to Scott Wilson of the Daily Express.

Should Kane put pen to paper on an extension, it would appear to rule out any chance of him moving in the foreseeable future as he continues to enjoy rampant success with Tottenham, a club he joined at the age of 11.

Darmian has been played at left-back on numerous occasions this season.

Elsewhere, the Red Devils need not worry about Darmian departing Old Trafford despite rumoured interest from reigning Serie A champions Juventus, according to the latest reports.

The Italy international moved to England from Torino for a fee of £14 million last summer, but after a bright start in Manchester, his form has dropped off. However, he's quoted by Stuart Mathieson of the Manchester Evening News as saying he's content in his current setting:

"

I am happy here with the team, the staff and the city. I am happy here so I just try to ignore the rumours. I want to continue on my way and that’s it. I think the manager is happy with my progress and when I train I try to improve day by day. And when the manager gives me a chance I try to do my best and to help the team.

"

The defender was a key part of manager Louis van Gaal's side at the start of the season, but Ashley Young is now challenging for a starting place at right-back.

He's one of several players whose first-team futures are in doubt, not to mention the manager, but Metro's Chris Winterburn recently suggested Darmian holds more value to the club than Van Gaal:

Darmian came to the Premier League giants on the back of a hugely successful 2014-15 season with Torino, during which he scored five goals and made four assists for the Italian outfit.

The Red Devils will retain hope their summer investment can rediscover his best form and once again become a top asset for the club as they look to bounce back out of a torrid patch in form.
