Bray Wyatt Emerging as Realistic Contender to Win WWE Royal Rumble 2016

Aaron BowerJan 10, 2016

It's expected that guys like Triple H and Roman Reigns are the favorites for WWE's upcoming Royal Rumble match, but don't rule out a shock win for Bray Wyatt.

The Eater of Worlds and leader of The Wyatt Family is overdue for a breakthrough moment in WWE, and with circumstances starting to dictate Wyatt's path forward, the Rumble is the perfect chance for WWE to come good and deliver a world championship to the hands of Wyatt.

With so many stars out injured at the moment, there's a feeling that WWE will simply have to push someone new up to the main event scene.

It's impossible for Sheamus and Reigns to carry the torch forward over the next few months whilst big names like Seth Rollins, John Cena and Randy Orton all sit on the sidelines.

There's an easy way out of the Rumble for WWE, and that's to pin the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Triple H. He and Reigns could then feud for it right through to WrestleMania 32.

But that rivalry can happen without the world title and without the need for a championship to be on the line. Just have Triple H and The Authority cost Reigns the title at the Rumble, and that will give Roman the motivation to go after The Game.

That would open up the opportunity for another star to step in and win the title, and why not Wyatt?

He's one of WWE's most consistent performers and continually delivers whenever he's thrown into a huge rivalry. He's feuded with big names like Cena and Undertaker in the past, but regrettably, he's just seemed to come up short on almost every occasion.

This is the chance for Bray to get his big break, and with WWE's roster undoubtedly thinner than it's been for a long time, the chance to breed some new stars to ensure that a shortfall of this type doesn't happen again is blindingly obvious.

Wyatt has a real main event feel about him, and with The Wyatt Family going from strength to strength, there's a genuine potential for him to carry the company's biggest prizeand carry it well.

Besides, WWE needs to sort out its plans for WrestleMania 32. Wyatt doesn't really have a clear direction at the moment, so him being able to get a break and win the Royal Rumble and WWE World Heavyweight Championship isn't as ridiculous as it sounded a few months ago.

The biggest stumbling block in all of this, though, is whether WWE wants to take a punt at the Rumble. It should remember that its last two Royal Rumble victors have been poorly received, and another lazy option at one of the biggest shows of the year would do little to satisfy fans.

But Bray Wyatt as the champion? It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it would certainly be different and get people talking and tuning in ahead of WrestleMania 32.
