Ware Sits Out Day 1 of Organized Team Activities

Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak implied Ware's absence from workouts wasn't too much cause for alarm.

"I would tell you it's probably more preventative than anything," said Kubiak of Ware's situation, per 9 News' Mike Klis. "He's going to be a day-to-day participant. I'm going to have about 10 guys that are going to go every other day. We'll probably make decisions on DeMarcus day to day on how he's feeling."

Ware was a little bit banged up throughout the 2015 season, beginning with back spasms that flared up in Week 5 and a left-knee injury suffered in Week 14. As Klis noted, back issues caused Ware to miss five contests this past year.

But the 33-year-old was productive when he was on the field, registering 7.5 sacks in 11 games. He has remained rather durable throughout his magnificent career, and it helps to have Super Bowl MVP Von Miller on the opposite edge to complement him.

Last year's first-round pick, pass-rusher Shane Ray, figures to gain reps while Ware recovers. That should benefit the Missouri product, who registered four sacks as a rookie in a limited role.

If back problems persist for Ware and lessen his impact in 2016, at least the Broncos' elite secondary figures to generate its fair share of coverage sacks and bolster the front seven's collective confidence.
