Panthers QB Cam Newton Air-Balls a 3-Pointer While Back at His High School

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton may be friends with Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, but he has some work to do before he can even think about trying to be the third Splash Brother.

Newton was back at his alma mater, Atlanta's Westlake High School, this week to take in some basketball. He wasn't just a spectator, however. He got an opportunity to take a shot.

Had Newton been at a rival school, his attempt would've led to the "Aiiiiiir Ballllll" chants that no shooter wants to hear.

Fortunately, the Panthers quarterback gets paid to throw a football—not shoot a basketball. And he's pretty good at his job. He's so good, in fact, that he is the heavy favorite to win the NFL Most Valuable Player award this season, per Odds Shark.
