Minor League Hockey Team to Honor Don Cherry with Wild Jersey Night

The only way to properly honor Don Cherry is to wear wild uniforms that would look like something you'd find in the hockey commentator's closet.

And that's exactly what the ECHL's Toledo Walleye are doing.

On Jan. 23, Toledo will host "Don Cherry Jersey Night," which will feature special uniforms. The blue-and-yellow checkerboard jerseys are perfect, considering they are similar to something Cherry has worn before:

Nailed it.

The jerseys will be auctioned off after the game, with the proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society and the Relay for Life.
