Nike Kobe 11 Elite Low 'Achilles Heel' Release Date, Pics and Retail Price
You'd think Kobe Bryant would be loathe to rehash memories of his devastating 2013 Achilles injury, but that's exactly what the Los Angeles Lakers star will be doing with the next release in the Kobe XI line.
According to Nike, the Kobe XI "Achilles Heel" will launch Saturday at 10 a.m. ET and retail for $200.
University red and black make up the main colorway, with the shoe also featuring touches of bright crimson and metallic gold. Nike offered fans four great shots of the sneaker:
The overall look of the Kobe XI "Achilles Heel" somewhat resembles Bryant's contribution to Nike's most recent Christmas line. A number of small details make this shoe stand out, though.
By far the coolest design features of the Kobe XI "Achilles Heel" come on the heels. On the right is a depiction of Achilles with the helmet synonymous with Trojan warriors. On the left are four separate marks "representing the four feet of thread used in Bryant’s 2013 Achilles surgery," per Nike.
A number of technological also factor heavily into the Kobe XI "Achilles Heel," documented by Nike when the line was announced in December.
The advanced Flyknit construction makes for a more durable shoe, and the wearer will benefit from the Lunarlon cushioning and mesh tongue, the latter of which provides even more durability. The rubber outsole will also come in handy for those who have to worry about icy winter weather.
Between the overall design and impressive technology, the Kobe XI "Achilles Heel" is a must-have for any sneaker collector.
