There are many established ways to "tap up" a prospective transfer target, but throwing a shirt over his garden wall is certainly not a typical approach.

Jamie Vardy's fiancee took to Twitter on Tuesday to post a picture of a Newcastle United shirt that had landed on a hedge in their garden.

It's possible that it was hastily discarded by an irate Geordie, but perhaps it's more likely that someone was trying to cheekily influence his choice of employer.

Sadly for Magpies fans, it may take a little more than a replica jersey to pry the Premier League's joint-top goalscorer away from Leicester City.
