Recap
Three-time champion and No. 2 seed Adams has struggled in the first round of the BDO Championship of late, and his bad luck continued on Tuesday, as Smith put together an excellent showing on the doubles to take a 3-0 win.
Wolfie hit a 10-darter in the second set and had a solid scoring average, but he couldn't get things going in the checkout, leading to the upset. Live Darts was impressed with Smith:
It's a shame one of these players had to bow out of the tournament this early, as Adams and Smith put together two of the best performances of the first round, with both averaging around 90 at one point.
Per BBC Sport's Phil Cartwright, Wolfie gave full credit to the Silencer after the match, saying: "Jeff played better than I did. The first set could have been a bit different if I'd have hit my doubles. I had plenty of opportunities and I just didn't take them."
SportsPage180 thought the top players could learn a thing or two from Adams, who gave a fantastic post-match interview:
"Martin Adams very dignified and professional in defeat. They may not like me saying this - but some of the PDC elite should take note. #BDO

Qualifier Seigo Asada came close to an upset during the evening session, losing to Wesley Harms in a decider, but that was about the closest the Lakeside crowd got to another upset. Zoe Jones beat Tina Osborne 2-1, and Geert De Vos eliminated Kostas Pantelidis with a 3-1 win.
Th final match of the day provided plenty of excitement, however. Dawson and Walton served up a high-quality encounter that saw plenty of twists and turns, ending in a tie-break in the final set.
As shared by BT Sport, the action on offer was simply sensational:
Walton led 2-0 and even threw for the match at one point, but Dawson produced a fantastic comeback, capping off the evening session in emphatic fashion.
Jamaican-born Hedman is still looking for her first women's title at Lakeside, and she got her 2016 campaign off on the right foot with an easy 2-0 win over Hammond. The Dark Destroyer has been one of the most consistent players in the BDO the past few years, but Lakeside remains a venue she usually struggles at.
She looked just fine on the doubles against Hammond, however, and with Fallon Sherrock and Anastasia Dobromyslova already out of the tournament, the road to the final looks wide open for Hedman.

Sajwani did well to qualify for the first round proper, cruising through the preliminary round, but he had no chance against McGeeney, who finally qualified for the tournament this year and seems eager to leave an impression.
Meanwhile, Madars Razma took a big 3-1 win over Gary Robson, finishing their clash with an impressive 150.
