Chris Jericho Returns to Monday Night Raw, Announces WWE Royal Rumble 2016 Entry

Chris Jericho is back.

The six-time world champion returned to WWE programming Monday night during Raw, interrupting The New Day and announcing that he'll be entering the Royal Rumble match Jan. 24, per WWE Universe.

Jericho interrupted the tag team champions' promo, which was cut right before they were set to take on Kalisto and The Dudley Boyz in a six-man tag match. The New Day, who have made unicorns a mainstay in their gimmick, came out to the ring wearing unicorn horns.

The first-ever undisputed champion is not a man of few words, and he told Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods how he felt, per WWE Universe:

Jericho's return to WWE was a nice surprise, but there was no reason for him to cut a promo. His legendary status has given him an entry into the Royal Rumble by default.

Other than that, there's no other reason why Jericho is back, as Kevin Berge of Wrestle Enigma pointed out:

It's understandable that Jericho would want more run, considering WrestleMania is aiming to break the all-time attendance record at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, and this could be a sign that he's retiring from in-ring competition after April. Plus, finding a worthy opponent to put over is also complicated, as there doesn't seem to be anyone who could make a two-month feud with Jericho a must-see event.

Time will tell, but one thing is certain: Jericho will be one of 30 guys competing in a world championship match. After that, it's a big mystery.
