2016 NFL Draft: Latest 1st-Round Order, Mock Draft Predictions After Week 17

Joe PantornoJan 4, 2016

The first 20 spots of the 2016 NFL draft were solidified after the final regular-season games were played on Sunday. A majority of the league can now set its sights solely on building in the offseason with a major opportunity of acquiring some solid talent in the draft.

Here is the current draft order and who I think will be selected in the first round. There are only 31 selections in the first round of this year's draft after the New England Patriots had to forfeit a draft pick due to Deflategate.

The Tennessee Titans get first-pick honors after a 3-13 season. It's their second consecutive season with the first selection in the draft after going 2-14. They chose quarterback Marcus Mariota out of Oregon.

But Mariota had a difficult time staying on his feet this season after experiencing tons of pressure thanks to a subpar offensive line. He was sacked 38 times in 12 games which resulted in him spraining his MCL.

Grabbing the best possible offensive lineman to help protect the franchise quarterback is the only logical thing to do for the Titans. They have the opportunity to do so with Ole Miss' Laremy Tunsil, who is easily the best offensive lineman available in the draft.

At 6'5", 305 pounds, Tunsil uses great footwork and strength to gain the advantage against onrushing defenders. He can hold his own when isolated on the edge which could prove vital to Mariota's blind side.

NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah shows an example of those attributes:

He possesses the capability of moving defenders with ease, which along with his athleticism provides him some slack if he is caught out of position.

ESPN shows just the kind of versatility he holds in an unlikely scenario many offensive linemen wouldn't find themselves in:

Bringing these kinds of intangibles to a struggling offensive line that hasn't been able to stop a nosebleed this season will certainly bring a lift not only to the unit, but to Mariota, who will look to put together a full 16 games in his sophomore campaign.

In order to do so though, he's going to need improved protection.
