Liverpool Transfer News: Huge Rumours After Opening of January Window
Liverpool are reportedly interested in bringing Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia to Anfield during the January transfer window, according to reports in Italy, via Liam Corless of Daily Mirror.
The 29-year-old has been linked every which way over the course of the 2015/16 campaign, having put together a string of impressive performances in the heart of the Lazio lineup.
And that much has seemingly caught the eye of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who is now hoping to get a deal across the line over the course of the month.

However, the Reds are facing stiff competition for Biglia’s signature, with Italian outlet GazzettaWorld reporting that Manchester United are also in the hunt to secure the Argentinian’s services.

And there are plenty more suitors where they came from, too, as the player’s agent Enzo Montepaone told TuttoMercatoWeb back in November that there are possibilities around Europe for his client—via Tom Webber of Goal.com:
"Biglia is a top player. It is normal that the biggest teams in Europe have made enquiries about him. There's a big market for him, both in Italy and abroad. There are so many possibilities, Inter is one of them. We can't say yet [if he will move in January]. Biglia is happy at Lazio, but we must think about what's best for his career.
"
Stepping across to the Premier League could well be the right decision for Biglia’s career progression, and it would certainly give Liverpool a bit more bite in midfield.
Fans have been calling for a replacement for Lucas Leiva for many a season now, and Biglia looks the perfect candidate for the job.
He’s tenacious in a tackle—much like Lucas—yet his ability on the ball betters his Brazilian counterpart’s.
Biglia is currently rated at £25 million, with his contract at Lazio set to run until summer 2018.
Elsewhere, Klopp is reportedly on the hunt for a new goalkeeper, and Paris Saint-Germain stopper Salvatore Sirigu is on his radar according to reports in France, via the Daily Telegraph.
The Italian told radio station RMC that he’s open to a move to the Premier League in a bid for more regular first-team football, and Liverpool are looking to take advantage.

However, the Reds manager has admitted he’s happy with current stopper Simon Mignolet despite the Belgian failing to agree terms on a new contract, according to the Telegraph report:
"I'm really satisfied with Simon. I can only say this and some of you the next day will write about 500 goalkeepers across the world who we're supposed to be interested in.
"
The rumours could well be unfounded, then, although you expect Liverpool to do some sort of big business in January.
The Reds are very much in the hunt for fourth place in the Premier League, and a few additions to the squad could prove the difference between Champions League and Europa League football.
