Holmgren Interested in Coaching 49ers

Robert Klemko of the MMQB reported Monday that "Holmgren has, for the second time in as many years, expressed interest in the 49ers [head coaching] job."
Holmgren, 67, last coached the Seattle Seahawks in the 2008 season. In tenures with the Green Bay Packers and Seahawks he went 161-111 over 17 seasons, reached the postseason 12 times and led the Packers to a Super Bowl title in the 1996 season.
He also led the Packers back to the Super Bowl in 1997 and the Seahawks to the Super Bowl in the 2005 season, though he lost both of those contests.
Holmgren was last in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns, serving as team president from 2010-12. But in July, Holmgren acknowledged on the Rich Eisen Show that he had the bug to return to the NFL:
This last December, after the season, I had a couple of chances, and almost took one of them, and then realized that, 'What am I doing?' You know, I'd be traveling across the country and my grandkids are all in Seattle, and my life is really good but I had the bug still, and then I told my agent, 'You know, the one I'd really kind of like to do is San Francisco,' and so they reached out to the 49ers and essentially, I got the call back saying, 'Nah, we're going with a younger guy.'
The Niners may choose to make a change at head coach as the team has gone just 4-11 in Jim Tomsula's first season, and the coach appears to be on the hot seat.
If they decide to go with an experienced, older coach rather than a hot young name coming up in the ranks, Holmgren appears to be interested in the gig.
