Rampage Quits The U.F.C. To Pursue Movie Career!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rampage Jackson has left the U.F.C. to pursue a movie career. Apparently he feels he will jeopardize his acting career if he continues fighting. That and the bad reviews he's been receiving from the fans.
"My body has been getting so many different injuries that I wont be able to fight until my forties & neither do I want to fight that long. So I feel like my second career could be in jeopardy," Jackson said in the statement.
There have been rumours of in fighting amongst Jackson and Dana White for quite some time. He didn't want to fight Chuck Liddell as soon as he did because he felt the fan base in America didn't know him well enough.
When he won the title there were plenty of boos going around the arena something Jackson wasn't really accustomed to.
From there they threw him in to a title fight with Pride Champion Dan Henderson to decide the "Undisputed Champion of the World".After winning the fight Jackson was never awarded the Pride belt. He was never promoted as the "Undisputed Champion of the World" either.
Then he faced off against Forrest Griffin after TUF season 7 losing by decision, I agree with him that the title should have never changed hands on such a close fight. Like in boxing I believe you have to take the championship away from the champ, you can't just squeak by.
Jackson's past came calling him again as the U.F.C. matched him up against the man who brutally knocked him out twice in Pride Vanderlei Silva which he accepted and in stunning fashion put the "Axe Murders" lights out.
Even with all the turmoil in his life,(drunk driving charges) Rampage managed to win a fight many thought he would certainly lose.
A few weeks later they were asking him to fight Evans for the title. Jackson said no as it was too close in timing and felt he couldn't train properly for the fight. Somehow Dana managed to persuade Jackson and then Evans backed out.
Too make a long story short they decided that he and Evans would coach TUF season 10, he fought Jardine, Evans lost to Machida, now Evans wasn't the champion anymore and Jackson was the legitimate #1 contender.
But sticking with tradition the U.F.C. decided the coaches would fight at the end of the season and the winner would get a shot at the title.
I ask you "Sports Fans" can you blame him?. And the final straw for the soon to be actor was that fact that they wanted him to cut in to his acting time to train for his fight with Evans.
I wish Rampage all the luck in his new career, I think he'll be a great B.A. Baracus...I just hope he finds his way back to the Octagon before he's 40.
The rumour mill has it that Vitor Belfort may be Anderson Silva's next opponent. I may agree that he is the best contender out there for the title shot but what about Nate Marquardt????? What about Henderson?????? Surely they deserve a shot before Belfort.
Both fighters have strung together better winning streaks than 1. I think it was time MMA was regulated by an athletic commission rather than by the company...but that's another story. That's all for now "Sports Fans"
