Twitter Reacts as Southampton Destroy Arsenal 4-0 at St. Mary's Stadium

Liverpool gave Arsenal a golden opportunity to go to the top of the Premier League on Boxing Day, displacing leaders Leicester City at the 3 p.m. kickoff, 1-0, at Anfield. 

The in-form Gunners, six days removed from defeating presumed favourites Manchester City, just needed to defeat struggling Southampton on the South Coast to reach the summit. 

But in typical mercurial Arsenal fashion, they stumbled out of the blocks and fell behind quickly thanks to a Cuco Martina wondergoal (see it here). 

His outside-of-the-boot curler had many people giving it goal-of-the-season mentions.

Even more surprising than the technique it took to make the strike is that most had no idea who Martina even was prior to kickoff.

Southampton extended their lead in the second half to 4-0 behind a brace from striker Shane Long and a goal by defender Jose Fonte, giving much credence to the "typical Arsenal" shouts.
