Jeffery Unable to Shake Injury Bug in 2015

Jeffery reached the 1,000-yard mark in 2013 and 2014 and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2013. He has been one of the better pass-catchers in the league when healthy this season, but he has only notched a catch in nine games because of various ailments. In all, he has 807 receiving yards and four touchdowns and reached the century mark four times.

He is clearly quarterback Jay Cutler’s preferred target, especially since Martellus Bennett, Marquess Wilson and Eddie Royal have all dealt with various physical setbacks this year.

The Bears are no longer in the NFC playoff race, so there was no reason to rush Jeffery back for a meaningless game, especially since he will be so important in 2016 if the team plans on contending.

Chicago could theoretically line Jeffery up alongside promising rookie Kevin White, who has not appeared in a game this season due to a shin injury, next year. The potential that combination offers is reason for optimism in the Windy City, even if this season is a lost cause.
