Kurt Angle, Lovepreet Singh and Latest WWE NXT Developmental News

Ryan DilbertDec 23, 2015

As hot a commodity as WWE NXT is right now, Kurt Angle doesn't have the developmental brand high on his list of priorities.

In a recent interview, Angle balked at the idea of joining James Storm and Samoa Joe at NXT. He may have a few bouts left in him, but it looks like they won't be at Full Sail University.

Lovepreet Singh, a man on the opposite end of his career than Angle, is set to make his debut as WWE travels eastward. The prospect and a fellow countryman will soon take key first steps in their career at the developmental offshoot.

Other NXT stories during Christmas week include a strange incident at an event in England, tickets going at a record pace and AJ Styles' thoughts on a possible move to NXT.

Prospects Set to Make Debuts

Recent NXT additions, Lovepreet Singh (also known as Lovepreet Sangha) and Satender Ved Pal, will get their first taste of live in-ring action. And it won't be anywhere near Full Sail University.

The Press Trust of India reported that both men "will make their in-ring debuts in front of their hometown fans during WWE Live India on January 15 and January 16."

The arrangement makes a lot of sense. Singh and Ved Pal get the benefit of working in their home country first, while WWE gets to use each wrestler's name to bring in more Indian fans.

There's a big opportunity for them to shine here and speed up their climb up the developmental ranks. Most prospects don't get to start out at a WWE-level show.

Fan Incident at NXT Live Event

2 of 5

Throughout the year, there have been several security breaches at WWE events. It was apparently NXT's turn to have one of its own.

According to the Wrestling Observer (h/t Wrestle Zone), a fan entered the ring during a tag team match at an NXT house show in Sheffield, England, during the recent United Kingdom tour. An NXT crew member quickly stopped the fan, though.

Fans who try to become part of the show like this audience member can expect the hammer when it comes time for WWE to retaliate.

The company has to be frustrated with how often this has happened all year. So far, it has been lucky enough to avoid anything serious happening.

Kurt Angle Not Interested in NXT Run

3 of 5

Don't start dreaming up dream NXT matches for Kurt Angle. He's likely not coming to the developmental brand if he makes a comeback following his current wrestling hiatus.

He commented about potentially making that move on Ring Rust Radio. Angle said, "I just don't think it would be worth it for either side to have me go in and work on NXT." He added that NXT is "considered the WWE minor league."

Angle sounded respectful of what WWE is doing with the brand. He's right to resist heading down there, though. As excellent a product as it is, it's still viewed by far less people than WWE proper.

The right stage for a potential Angle return would be WrestleMania.

A Pair of Sellouts for NXT

NXT continues to venture outside of Florida, and fans continue to snatch up tickets each time.

NXT is headed to both Chicago and Dallas in 2016. It's going to be hard to get in to see either show.

Wrestle Zone's Nick Paglino noted that tickets for NXT's Chicago debut went on sale on Friday morning and "sold out in less than one minute." Triple H tweeted that NXT TakeOver: Dallas tickets sold out in 15 minutes.

These sellouts speak to NXT's popularity. The developmental brand keeps filling up sizable venues, as fans from states other than Florida are clearly psyched to see Bayley, Finn Balor and company in person.

Other News, Notes

AJ Styles didn't close the door on coming to NXT, but he didn't sound like he was itching to sign with the brand, either.

In an interview with Ring Rust Radio, when asked about a possible NXT run, Styles talked about how the financial side of the business is important to him.

He said, "Wherever I go, I will do my best, work harder than anybody there, and that's just what I do. I only have one gear and if someone is looking for that and I can support my family while doing it, then that is what I will do."

Translation: NXT better be ready to shell out some money to nab him.

Paul Jordan noted for PWInsider, the upcoming new Breaking Ground episode will focus on Superstars getting prepped for NXT TakeOver: Respect.

The next edition of NXT promises to be intriguing. As Dave Meltzer noted on F4WOnline, Wednesday's NXT marks Sami Zayn's in-ring return, as well as Elias Samson's debut as The Drifter.
