Former Manchester City and England man, Trevor Sinclair, seemed to be showing off some insider knowledge with a series of tweets.
"Old photo but LVG has gone
— Trevor Sinclair (@trevor8sinclair) December 22, 2015"
Not surprisingly, it got the pulses racing of a number of folks on Twitter.
"LvG is gone according to @trevor8sinclair. Announcement imminent. Cc: @eaglestar7
— PENNO| #TEAMKLOPP (@addypenno) December 22, 2015"
Sinclair's description of Old Trafford as "The Swamp" even started trending.
But it turned out it was Sinclair who was the victim of a prank.
The inevitable Steve Harvey comparisons were made, with Sinclair himself even tweeting an image of the US TV presenter who went viral after getting the winner of Miss Universe wrong earlier this week.

We still await some REAL news from Old Trafford.
