And the 33-year-old, now with Burnley in the Championship, has had his say on the depth and quality of City's squad.
Tweeting during the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal on Monday night, Barton claimed that if the rumours about Pep Guardiola's potential arrival at the Etihad are true, he should only keep half a dozen of City's starters.
