John Cena to Face Alberto Del Rio Next Monday in WWE Programming Return
The champ will soon be here.
The WWE announced Monday on Twitter that John Cena will make his return to Raw next Monday night. He will take on United States champion Alberto Del Rio in a rematch from the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.
Cena lost the U.S. title in October against Del Rio, who made his return to WWE after spending time in AAA Wrestling, where he won the AAA Mega Championship. Cena took time off after Hell In a Cell, with one of the reasons being his job as the host for a new reality show on Fox titled American Grit.
As much as fans don't take a liking to Cena, his return is much-needed in a time when top-tier main eventers are a necessity. With the WWE world heavyweight title held by Roman Reigns, getting someone the caliber of Cena to put on matches with Del Rio and others will be good for the undercard.
Next week's match with Del Rio at the Barclays Center is not for the U.S. title. However, the seeds could be planted for a buildup to the Royal Rumble, where Cena could get his rematch for the title and build a feud with either Del Rio or someone else leading up to WrestleMania.
Either way, Cena's return is needed and will be a huge boost to the WWE and its ratings.
