Austin Howard Injury: Updates on Raiders OL's Knee and Return

Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Austin Howard suffered a knee injury against the Denver Broncos in Week 14. He has been ruled out for the season.

Scott Bair of CSN Bay Area reported safety Tevin McDonald has been promoted off the practice squad after Howard was placed on injured reserve.

Howard Injury Shakes Up Raiders Offensive Line

Howard hasn't missed a game since becoming the New York Jets' starting right tackle in 2012, as he has strung together 61 consecutive starts over the past four seasons.

He has spent the past two campaigns with the Raiders, and he's proved to be a reliable blocker for both quarterback Derek Carr and running back Latavius Murray.

With Howard out of action, Oakland's depth will certainly be tested. Matt McCants is listed as the Raiders' backup right tackle, although veteran backup Khalif Barnes could swing over from the left side if needed.

Whoever replaces Howard will need to be on top of his game or else Carr could be under siege.
