Colleen Dominguez Sues Fox Sports 1 for Age Discrimination

Mike ChiariDec 18, 2015

With her role at Fox Sports 1 in limbo, Colleen Dominguez sued her employer for age discrimination Wednesday.

According to Samer Kalaf of Deadspin, the former ESPN personality believes her lack of airtime and assignments since joining Fox in 2014 are a direct result of her age, which is listed as 54 in the lawsuit.

Dominguez's suit lists several examples of age discrimination, including the following, as provided by Kalaf:

Dominguez learned from other employees that management was concerned with how she "looked" on camera. One longtime FOX producer sent Dominguez a text message stating "you haven't done anything wrong at all. Just because 5 men at a company want to be gratified by 24 year old women doesn't make you bad at your job." Dominguez was also told by a supervisor that "we [FOX] don't handle veteran female reporters very well."

ESPN 710 Seattle reporter Danny O'Neil is among those who have stood behind Dominguez since the lawsuit came to light:

Dominguez is a native of Sayre, Pennsylvania, and a graduate of California State University at Los Angeles.

She has worked for several different outlets over the course of her career, which began in 1992, including Fox, ESPN and NBC.

Dominguez's current status with Fox Sports 1 in the wake of the lawsuit remains unclear.
