In news that will make Dele Alli all the more likeable to Spurs fans, the midfielder has confirmed that pictures from his old Myspace account are genuine.

Excellent photos of the 19-year-old England international prior to his phenomenal rise to fame surfaced on social media earlier this year, and in a wide-ranging interview with Complex, Alli confirmed their legitimacy.

"Yeah, that is me," he laughed. "I thought it was funny and I was gonna put it as my WhatsApp photoor wear it as fancy dress."

Alli joined Tottenham from MK Dons earlier this year and made his first Premier League appearance against Manchester United on the opening day of the season.

In a season of firsts, he has scored three goals for Mauricio Pochettino's side in all competitions and recently made his senior England debut, scoring his first international goal against France at Wembley in November.

"I’ve always been confident in myself and my own ability but I can’t say I expected it to go this well, I’ve got a lot of people to thank for that," he said of his meteoric rise to prominence. "All the boys there helped me settle in well, as did the manager and all the staff as well, they made it easy for me to go and do my thing."

Alli, who described Spurs team-mate Eric Dier as a "big brother," is expected to play a big role in England's 2016 European Championship campaign in France next year.

Next up for Tottenham, whose 14-game unbeaten domestic run was ended by Newcastle on Sunday, is a trip to Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
