Wednesday Recap

The Aces began with a six-point deficit as Fabrice Santoro was unable to play due to illness, but Agnieszka Radwanska's victory in the second set helped reduce it somewhat, per the team's official Twitter feed:

Dustin Brown and Karolina Pliskova extended the Slammers' lead to four when they took the third set in a hard-fought encounter that was sent to a tiebreaker after the pairs shared a staggering four breaks of serve apiece.

Then came Andy Murray's third appearance in the competition as he partnered Marcelo Melo in the men's doubles. The Scot helped the Slammers to a 6-4 victory and an unassailable six-game lead going into the last set.

Murray was then called upon against Bernard Tomic in the men's singles, and he produced a magnificent performance as he raced to a 5-1 lead:

Nick Kyrgios was subbed in to finish off the proceedings, and the Slammers duly won 6-1, ensuring they would have taken the victory even without the 6-0 head start.

Later, the OBI UAE Royals inflicted yet another defeat on the Legendari Japan Warriors—their ninth in 10 matches.

It was a close contest to begin with as the Warriors took the opener 6-3 through Marat Safin, thanks partly due to his opponent Goran Ivanisevic's 16 unforced errors, according to the tournament's official website.

Marin Cilic reversed that scoreline to even things up when he took on Philipp Kohlschreiber before partnering Daniel Nestor to help the Royals edge their way in front with a tiebreaker victory over Leander Paes and Pierre-Hugues Herbert.

A clinical performance from Kristina Mladenovic saw her comfortably dismiss Kirsten Flipkens and open up the scoreline, per IPTL:

The pair then teamed up with Nestor and Herbert, respectively, for the mixed doubles.

The Warriors valiantly took the set on a tiebreaker, but with the damage having been done in the previous set, it was little more than a consolation in the end.
