Nike 'Class of '97' Pack Release Date, Pics and Retail Price

Tim DanielsDec 16, 2015

Nike is set to turn back the clocks nearly two decades this week when it debuts the "Class of '97" pack. The celebration of the Zoom Air concept will be highlighted by putting two classic designs, the Air Foamposite Pro and the Zoom Hawk Flight, together in one release.

As Mario Briguglio of Sneaker Bar Detroit notes, the looks will be familiar to fans of basketball movies because they were worn by Jesus Shuttlesworth in He Got Game. That simply adds to the attraction of the vintage release.

Here are the key details from Nike:

It's a dynamic combo right in time for the final holiday rush.

Both shoes bring a little something different to the table. The Air Foamposite Pro is a clean, crisp look with the timeless black and white color tandem. The Zoom Hawk Flight is a little more showy with some added design elements.

Ultimately, it makes them the ideal pair to bring together, as Foot Locker showcased:

Trying to develop this type of release isn't always easy because the shoes need to have a connection to make it work. In this case, He Got Game provides the link for diehards, but even those without knowledge of the movie will like the pair because of the contrasting styles.

NikeBlog.com passed along a picture of the box:

They are also built for different situations. The Air Foamposite Pro is straightforward and can be used with an everyday look. Meanwhile, the Zoom Hawk Flight is more of a standout design that would probably generate added attention when that's the goal.

Nice Kicks provided one more angle of the shoes:

All told, it's always important to do something a little special in order to make an impact at this time of year when every company is vying for attention. This type of special release, which can attract both diehard collectors and people who just like the looks, is one way to do that.

Add in the connection to a popular movie, and the "Class of '97" pack really checks all the boxes. It should be a popular target in the weeks ahead.
