WWE TLC 2015 Results: Re-Booking Full Card from PPV

Aaron BowerDec 15, 2015

On the whole, WWE Tables, Ladders & Chairs 2015 certainly managed to catch the eye in some areas.

The explosive start, coupled with an unpredictable and shocking finish, sandwiched together a pretty neat show, but as always, there were things which could have been done better.

With the Royal Rumble now just around the corner, this was an important show for WWE as it builds toward WrestleMania 32.

So with the exception of some matches that were interesting, exciting and had what felt like the right results, let's go about re-booking TLC.

There are two matches which don't feature here, as they felt pretty sound in the way they were booked. Those are Dean Ambrose's victory against Kevin Owens and The New Day's incredible retention of the tag titles in the opening match of the night.

Rusev vs. Ryback

1 of 5

After such an enjoyable opening to TLC, we were given a pretty bland and uninteresting match between Rusev and Ryback.

Apart from scrapping the match from the card completely, there were a couple of obvious tweaks that could have been made.

If you think back to around a year ago, Rusev was one of WWE's most unstoppable forces. Think about the way he's booked today, and it's almost completely the opposite.

This was a fine opportunity for WWE to put some heat on Rusev, but instead, the focus was all on Lana.

Did we really need to see another collision between Ryback and Lana? It would have been much better if the Bulgarian struck up a pretty vital win all on his own, with Lana merely playing the role of sidekick outside the ring.

It would have given Rusev some much-needed momentum, but instead he simply picked up another cheap victory.

Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger

2 of 5

There were flashes of brilliance in Alberto Del Rio's victory against Jack Swagger, but the absence of Zeb Colter here felt a bit confusing.

There were two clear options for WWE when it came to Colter.

It could have pulled a surprise and made his split with Del Rio a fake, with Colter helping the Mexican to victory and reuniting with him after the bell. Or perhaps the more obvious and logical choice was to reunite Swagger and Colter, even if it wouldn't have led to a victory for Swagger.

Colter could have come down late in the match and tried to cause the distraction, without completely getting the job done and allowing Del Rio to win.

But without that move happening, it's hard to see how Colter and Swagger can get back together. This was the perfect opportunity to do it.

The Wyatt Family vs. Team ECW

3 of 5

This quickly became an Extreme Rules match from the outset, which did make for an intriguing spectacle as The Dudley Boyz, Rhyno and Tommy Dreamer took us on a trip down memory lane.

But without doubt, the biggest error in the booking of this match was the missed opportunity for Bray Wyatt.

Let's not forget the enormous few months that are just around the corner for WWE. With some top stars absent due to injury, this was the chance for Wyatt to go over strongly, perhaps overcoming a numerical disadvantage late on to score victory.

Did we need to see another showcase of the monstrous Braun Strowman? It should have been Bubba Ray and D-Von vs. Bray at the end, with the leader of The Wyatt Family coming through a bruising battle.

That would have sent his stock sky high and teed up him nicely for the coming months.

Charlotte vs. Paige

4 of 5

If fans weren't aware that Ric Flair is heavily involved in the Charlotte vs. Paige feud before TLC, they are now.

It's fine having Ric at ringside supporting his daughter, but there was too much emphasis on The Nature Boy in this match. That's where the match fell down, as fans were more interested in what Flair was doing outside the ring than what Charlotte and Paige were doing in it.

Plus, we needed some clarity on the status of both women. Is Paige now the babyface? Has Charlotte turned? You'll notice that fans become significantly less interested in bouts when they don't know what's going on.

Charlotte used a heel tactic to win, again with the help of her father. That should have been scrapped, and there should have been no major involvement from Ric. Do that, and you've got a much better match.

Sheamus vs. Roman Reigns

5 of 5

All the talk will be about what happened after the match, but how could the bout itself have been re-booked?

It was inevitable that The League of Nations were going to get involved at some point, but one thing stood out above all else: Just where was King Barrett?

He should have been there, playing the heel role and helping his buddy win the title.

Aside from that, there were a couple of other tweaks.

Although this was a TLC match, it didn't quite have the energy of other matches with stipulations earlier in the night.

The fans showed their dislike with some rather peculiar chants for John Cena. More energy and more spots with the weapons would have been much more entertaining for those watching.

But you can't take anything away from the ending; it sets things up intriguingly for the future.
