Eddie Lacy, James Starks' Post-Week 14 Fantasy Advice

Mike NorrisDec 13, 2015

The Green Bay Packers offense came to life Week 14 in a 28-7 victory over the Dallas Cowboys at Lambeau Field on Sunday.

It's been an up-and-down running game for the Packers this season but even more so for Eddie Lacy owners.

He had his best game of the season against Dallas, but Lacy is still a cautionary tale. While dealing with injuries and a missed curfew that caused him to be benched early on in Week 13, he has been inconsistent to say the least.

Earlier in the season, he followed up a 90-yard performance with 27 yards the next week, and after back-to-back 100-yard performances in Weeks 11 and 12, he had four yards on five carries in Week 13.

The good news is he has cracked 100 yards three of the past four weeks, so he does look healthy. His Week 15 opponent, the Oakland Raiders, only poses a decent threat, as the Raiders are ranked 13th in fantasy points allowed to running backs, per ESPN.com.

More of a concern for Lacy owners is the fact it's clear his backup, James Starks, is still in the mix after his performance against the Cowboys:

Even with Lacy's big day, Starks showed he's valuable on the ground but especially in the passing game. He now has 39 receptions and three touchdowns through the air.

Starks most likely isn't going to rack up the rushing yards with Lacy seeing the bulk of the carries, but he will continue to see time in the backfield.

Both have proved they can run the ball, and since neither will be relegated to the bench, consider both RB2s heading into their matchup with Oakland.

Although Lacy should have more fantasy points in terms of yards, consider him even with Starks' pass-catching abilities. But remember, anything can happen when a team goes with a running back-by-committee approach.
