Rory McIlroy, Girlfriend Erica Stoll Reportedly Engaged

Superstar golfer Rory McIlroy is ready to take another shot at marriage, as the 26-year-old Northern Irishman is reportedly engaged to girlfriend Erica Stoll.  

According to TMZ Sports, the four-time major champion recently proposed in Paris.

The engagement was all but confirmed when McIlroy and Stoll appeared together at a charity event in Ireland on Thursday night, where Stoll was sporting a large ring, as seen in this photo, courtesy of Press Eye Ltd:

Per Jaclyn Hendricks of the New York Post, Stoll is a PGA of America employee who has been linked to McIlroy since April.

This marks the second time McIlroy has popped the question, as he infamously called off his previous engagement to tennis star Caroline Wozniacki over the phone last year.

According to Ciara Farmer and Anthony Joseph of the MailOnline, McIlroy said he wasn't prepared for the commitment at the time: "The problem is mine. The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realize that I wasn't ready for all that marriage entails. I wish Caroline all the happiness she deserves and thank her for the great times we've had. I will not be saying anything more about our relationship in any setting."

Whether fair or not, some blamed a poor run of play during McIlroy's engagement to Wozniacki on a lack of focus due to outside distractions involved with wedding planning.

Now that a wedding is once again imminent, McIlroy will have a chance to prove he is as locked in as ever on the golf course in 2016.
