Thursday Recap

What made the Warriors' first victory even more impressive was their response after losing the first two sets.

Ana Ivanovic and Mirjana Lucic-Baroni kicked off the match with the women's singles, and the former handily triumphed over the latter 6-2, thanks largely to Lucic-Baroni's 17 unforced errors, per the tournament's official website.

The Royals hailed Ivanovic's performance on Twitter:

Goran Ivanisevic compounded the Warriors' poor start as he beat Thomas Enqvist in a close contest, and it looked as though they would be heading to another comprehensive defeat.

The Warriors responded magnificently, though, and Leander Paes and Pierre-Hugues Herbert beat the potent combination of Tomas Berdych and Daniel Nestor 6-3 in just 22 minutes before Herbert then beat Berdych in the men's singles.

That left the Royals one game ahead with a set to go, and Lucic-Baroni and Herbert were left with the task of beating Nestor and Kristina Mladenovic, who had won four of their five matches in the competition. But the Warriors pair made short work of the unusually sloppy Royals duo.

There was no such comeback for the Philippine Mavericks when they faced the Micromax Indian Aces.

After a 6-2 victory for Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza in the mixed doubles, world No. 5 Agnieszka Radwanska made her first outing for the Aces and made short work of Jarmila Gajdosova in just 17 minutes, per the team's Twitter feed:

Fabrice Santoro's set with Mark Philippoussis was similarly one-sided as the Mavericks again accrued just one game.

Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Treat Huey made a better fist of it in the men's doubles, as they took four games off Rafael Nadal and Bopanna, and Roger-Vasselin did the same against Nadal in the men's singles, but their efforts weren't enough to secure even a single set.
