Everton's Steven Naismith Sponsors Christmas Dinner for Homeless in Glasgow

Steven Naismith has sponsored a festive dinner for hundreds of homeless people in Glasgow, reports James Whaling in the Mirror.

The Everton player has a history of charitable gestures, having organised the distribution of free tickets for the city's unemployed over the past two years.

His Toffees sit ninth in the Premier League table, but they're just four points behind fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

He arranged the Christmas lunches for Scottish charity Loaves and Fishes on Wednesday.

"I am privileged to have the opportunity to once again support the great work that Denis [Curran, chairmain of Loaves and Fishes] and his team of helpers do for people in need in Glasgow," he told the Mirror.

"Giving them a hot meal, clothes, food parcels and probably most importantly, a warm welcome from people who care. it is both humbling and inspiring."

Everton visit Norwich this weekend in the Premier League.
