With the deadline approaching for Pro Bowl fan voting, Tom Brady owns a nearly 30,000-vote lead over Cam Newton, his next-closest challenger, per Ben Volin of the Boston Globe.

Newton is the only player who could realistically catch up to and overtake Brady, with Andy Dalton over 113,000 votes back of the New England Patriots quarterback in third place:

J.J. Watt is the leading vote-getter on the defensive side of the ball, edging out Josh Norman by a little under 20,000 votes.

The NFL's only unbeaten team is well-represented in the voting. In total, the Carolina Panthers have 13 players first or second in the ballots: Newton, Norman, Luke Kuechly, Thomas Davis, Mike Tolbert, Greg Olsen, Kawann Short, Kurt Coleman, Joe Webb, Michael Oher, Trai Turner, Andrew Norwell and Ryan Kalil.

Of course, fan voting is only one part of the Pro Bowl voting process. The results are combined with the ballots from NFL players and coaches to determine who earns a trip to Honolulu, Hawaii. Two NFL legends will each captain a Pro Bowl team and draft their squads using the full roster pool.

Fans can continue casting their votes for the Pro Bowl on NFL.com until midnight on Dec. 14.
