New Day vs. the Usos vs. Lucha Dragons: Winner and Reaction from WWE TLC 2015

Mike ChiariDec 13, 2015

The New Day entered WWE Tables, Ladders & Chairs in a disadvantageous position, but they still managed to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships in a thrilling ladder match against The Usos and The Lucha Dragons on Sunday night.

Xavier Woods threw a trumpet at Kalisto, which paved the way for Kofi Kingston to secure the win.

WWE Network captured a photo of the champions:

WWE Universe provided a video of Woods tossing his trumpet:

The trio bragged about their win after the match, per WWE:

Kevin Berge of Wrestle Enigma believes it was one of the best ladder matches in a long time:

Both The Usos and The Lucha Dragons expressed interest in chasing the tag titles leading up to the pay-per-view, but Kingston, Big E and Woods interfered in their No. 1 contender's match, which is a move that could have come back to bite them.

It was determined that The New Day would have to face both teams at TLC in a match that wouldn't even require them to get pinned or submitted in order to lose the belts, but their resourcefulness paid off in the form of another successful title defense.

The New Day have been among the most entertaining parts of WWE programming in recent months, and although their feud leading up to TLC left something to be desired, they did their best to make the most of it with their infectious brand of humor.

They even introduced WWE-licensed unicorn horns to go along with their act; however, The Usos stole them, which became a point of contention ahead of Sunday's match:

There were some comedic spots at TLC, but all three teams meant business, for the most part, as they engaged in one of the most exciting and death-defying tag matches in recent memory.

While it didn't compare to the TLC battles that the likes of Edge and Christian, The Dudley Boyz and The Hardy Boyz had during the Attitude era, it was a great showcase for the type of skill and athleticism that is present in WWE's tag team ranks.

Tag team wrestling has been on the rise in WWE recently thanks to the three teams involved in Sunday's title match along with the Dudleys and a few others. There is finally some depth, which is something that hadn't been true in some time.

The New Day continue to carry the torch for the tag division, but there will be no rest for the weary as a number of deserving teams could get the next crack at their titles.

Since The New Day and The Usos seemed to have more issues with one another during the buildup toward TLC than The New Day and The Lucha Dragons, that figures to be a program moving forward.

The New Day and The Usos have proved to have great in-ring chemistry, and a prolonged feud between them should continue to lend credibility to the division.

Tag team wrestling is on the rise, and the ladder match at TLC was a perfect example of that.
