WWE SmackDown Spoilers: Complete Results and Analysis for December 10

Erik BeastonDec 8, 2015

Taped immediately following WWE's Tribute to the Troops special Tuesday night in Jacksonville, Florida, the Dec. 10 episode of SmackDown featured a star-studded main event that will serve as one final selling point for this weekend's TLC pay-per-view. In that contest, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose battled WWE World Heavyweight champion Sheamus and Intercontinental champion Kevin Owens.

That match caps off a show devoted to convincing the audience to subscribe to the WWE Network or purchase TLC via more traditional pay-per-view outlets.

With the majority of the hype centered on the IC title feud between Ambrose and Owens, the show also managed to hit on all of the programs to culminate on Sunday night while also providing fans with some intriguing matchups.

Furthermore, the rivalry between Dolph Ziggler and Tyler Breeze came to a head as they battled in singles competition, giving fans one more reason to tune into SyFy Network this Thursday night.

Who left this week's broadcast with their arms raised in victory, riding a wave of momentum into TLC on Sunday?

Find out now, thanks to our friends over at WrestlingInc.com.

Results

  • The Lucha Dragons defeated WWE tag team champions The New Day in a nontitle match.

  • Ryback defeated The Ascension in a Handicap match.
  • Ziggler defeated Breeze.
  • The Wyatt Family cut a promo.
  • Becky Lynch defeated Paige via submission.
  • Reigns and Ambrose defeated Sheamus and Owens.

Analysis

Believe it or not, there was a time that The Ascension was the baddest and most well-booked promo in the industry thanks to a run in NXT rivaled by few. Now, Konnor and Viktor are the epitome of jobbers, left to be squashed in a Handicap match by Ryback in a match no one will remember.

Their treatment upon being called up to the main roster is the epitome of everything done wrong by WWE Creative here in 2015, and it is fitting they suffer a similar fate to those countless occasions in which they have been criminally misused.

The company's inability to build stars that could carry it into the future has caught up to it, and the result is a muddled mess of a roster where no one really gets over and everyone is on the same footing.

That is again the case, as Sheamus and Owens lose again, Ziggler and Breeze write the latest chapter in a program that has seen them trade wins, and the top contender to the Divas Championship loses just days before her title opportunity.

SmackDown is always a more enjoyable show than Raw thanks to the shorter run time and the more focused booking, so it is worth tuning into if you are not busy doing something else.

But do not expect storytelling any more sensible than what fans were forced to endure Monday night.
