Joe PantornoDec 8, 2015

Oakland Raiders fullback Jamize Olawale will be staying in the black and silver for a little while longer, as the team announced on Tuesday the two parties have agreed to a three-year contract extension.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the extension is worth $6 million, with a $760k signing bonus and $1.14 million roster bonus in 2016.

Olawale was playing with a one-year, $660,000 deal that would have made him a restricted free agent at season's end, per Spotrac.com

Described as an "ascending player" by ESPN's Adam Schefter, Olawale is receiving the most touches of his career in 2015 with 24 carries for 110 yards along with eight receptions. In his first three years in the league, all with the Raiders, Olawale had a combined five rushes and 12 receptions.

Originally signed off of the Dallas Cowboys practice squad in 2012, it has been a surprising journey for Olawale, who spoke with the San Jose Mercury News' Jerry McDonald.

"If you look at my journey, I didn't play much my senior year at college," said Olawale, who went undrafted out of North Texas. "But I'm in the same league as people who won the Heisman Trophy. That's nothing less than the power of God."

Olawale is the kind of player who gives a big-time effort every game, providing plenty of grit, and makes his living as a lead blocker in Oakland's running game. Raider Nation News shows what he's capable of:

He also is an asset on Oakland's special teams. Last season, Olawale led the team in special teams tackles with 14, per McDonald

Working with fellow fullback and three-time Pro Bowler Marcel Reece in the backfield, Olawale brings a similar style of play to Reece's. At 26 years old, Olawale is four years younger than Reece and seems to be in Oakland's plans moving forward.
