Sami Zayn Announces Return to WWE NXT: Latest Comments and Reaction
Sami Zayn's lengthy layoff will soon be over after the former NXT champion announced on Dec. 4 he will make his in-ring return on NXT's upcoming tour of the United Kingdom.
Zayn hasn't wrestled much since suffering a shoulder injury. He originally hurt the shoulder in his attempt to win the United States Championship off John Cena on the May 4 edition of Raw:

At NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable, he challenged Kevin Owens for the NXT title, but their match ended in a no-contest, with Zayn's injured shoulder a dominant storyline of the bout:
It's a bit of a shame Zayn will return to NXT with Owens having already been called up to Raw. If he's even able to get another shot at him, Zayn will have to wait to get his revenge on the current Intercontinental champion.
You'd have to expect Zayn will play a role in the next TakeOver special, which is scheduled for Dec. 16. He isn't yet on the card, but that wouldn't stop him from getting involved—similar to how Samoa Joe came to Zayn's aid at Unstoppable.
With the Royal Rumble on the horizon, Zayn might also be a surprise entrant in that match.
Given the number of issues plaguing the roster, having Zayn restart his feud with Owens might be a good idea for WrestleMania. The buildup is already there with their history in NXT, and they'd be guaranteed to deliver a great match on the midcard.
