The Indian Aces were too good for the Royals on Monday, as Nadal's talented team steamrollered past their opponents.

Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza got the eventual winners off to the perfect start, beating Daniel Nestor and Kristina Mladenovic 6-4 in the opening battle.

Samantha Stosur swept past Mladenovic in the singles, and Fabrice Santoro followed suit against legend Goran Ivanisevic, both winning 6-3, leaving Nadal to partner the impressive Ivan Dodig as the pair beat Nestor and Berdych.

Nadal finished the day by narrowly beating Berdych 6-5 to take the Aces top of the IPTL.

Williams' Mavericks looked comfortable in their contest with the Warriors, but a late charge by the side—captained by Japanese star Kei Nishikori—almost stunned the winners, who held on for a 25-21 victory.

Mark Philippoussis continued to roll back the years as he thrashed fellow veteran Thomas Enqvist 6-2, but Philipp Kohlschreiber struck back for the Warriors, defeating Richard Gasquet 6-3.

Williams then entered the fray, and her impact was immediately felt as she won two matches, firstly with Milos Raonic in the doubles, and then in the singles against Mirjana Lucic-Baroni.

This left the Mavericks in a strong position, as their opponents needed a 6-0 win in the final contest to draw, but they could only manage a 6-4 victory—as Leander Paes and Pierre-Hugues Herbert beat Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Treat Huey.

The Mavericks are the Aces' closest contenders at present, but they do not have the sheer ruthless streak of Nadal's team.

Williams has shown flashes of brilliance as she has starred for the Philippines, but they have struggled to exert the dominance expected from their talented collective.
