Nike Air Jordan 6 Retro 'Maroon' Release Date, Pics and Retail Price

Tim DanielsDec 3, 2015

Nike is set for a high-profile retro release this week in the form of the Air Jordan 6 "Maroon." The classic, well-constructed design takes collectors back to a simpler era before there were so many different brand variations.

At a time when companies are frequently going for bolder and brighter in an effort to stand out in a crowded marketplace, sometimes, going old school is the best route. That's what Nike is betting on with "Maroon," and it's created quite a buzz.

Sneaker Bar Detroit, which noted the shoe was first released in 1991, provided the key details:

More than two decades after it graced store shelves, it's back for a look from a new generation.

One thing this shoe, and many from the same time period, features is a heavier look. There are various different layers and concepts meshed together to almost make it feel like a work of art. That's a stark contrast from many of the sleeker, modern looks.

Nice Kicks provided a baseline look:

The maroon Jumpman logo shines on both the top and bottom of the shoe thanks to the contrast created by the vast amount of white. At the same time, the more straightforward color scheme allows the look to keep the desired fresh vibe.

Foot Locker passed along another angle:

It's always nice to see the big Nike Air logo on the back on the shoe. That certainly helps drive home the retro feel. The clear outsole and patterned perforations are also nice touches.

Finally, Titolo highlights how the shoe looks while being worn:

All told, the Nike Air Jordan 6 "Maroon" definitely brings back the retro 1990s style. It's a must-have shoe for those who enjoy that look and want to take a trip back in time. And it's still a pretty cool design even without the history behind it.

Add in the fact the release has been accompanied by a fair share of hype, and the shoe figures to become a popular target for the holiday season.
