Daily Fantasy Hockey 2015: NHL DFS Must-Starts for Each Position December 2

R. Cory SmithDec 2, 2015

It's the second day of December, and you still have a lot of gifts to buy—luckily, daily fantasy hockey has you covered. There might only be four games to sift through, but DFS players can win big Wednesday night on DraftKings.

Narrowing down players can still be a difficult task with only eight teams on tap. Luckily, we've narrowed down some of the best targets to lock into your lineup from favorable matchups and past statistics. Here's a look at those players at each position for the December 2 slate.

Center: Patrice Bergeron, Boston Bruins ($6,400)

Most of the time, spending money on the third overall center can handcuff a lineup. However, Patrice Bergeron's price on Wednesday is $1,500 less than the top option, making him a reasonable target for owners.

Also remember that Bergeron is averaging five DK fantasy points over his last 10 games. He also had 8.5 against the New York Rangers Friday with a goal, an assist and six(!) shots on goal. The Boston Bruins are on a five-game winning streak, and Bergeron is a huge reason why. Lock him as a top center in any lineup.

Winger: Mats Zuccarello, New York Rangers ($5,800)

Looking for a low-cost winger on a limited salary sheet? Mats Zuccarello might just be your guy.

The Rangers' top-line right wing was kept off the score sheet for five straight games before tickling the twine Monday against the Carolina Hurricanes. Now that he's back on track, Zuccarello has another great matchup against the New York Islanders.

Ranking 22nd against right wings this season, the Islanders are susceptible to allowing a huge night to Zuccarello. Given the fact that his offensive production is picking back up, Zuccarello is a low-price addition that can pay off.

Defenseman: Ryan McDonagh, New York Rangers ($4,800)

Look, there aren't a wealth of low-budget options for Wednesday night. Similar to Zuccarello, Ryan McDonagh is getting back on the scoring sheet recently for the Rangers. He's slowed down in the last two games but had a stretch of four straight starts with four fantasy points per game before that.

McDonagh might not always score points—just 10 this season—but he's still producing in myriad ways. With six blocked shots in the last three games and eight shots on goal in the last four, McDonagh should put up solid numbers against the Islanders defense.

Goalie: Tuukka Rask, Boston Bruins ($7,600)

So we're sticking with just two teams on the night with solid matchups. Tuukka Rask is on a tear recently with three straight wins. While he's given up three goals in the last two starts, the Bruins offense has been productive enough to carry the team to wins.

Let's also remember that he's stopped 105 of 111 shots over that three-game stretch. That's a save percentage of .946. The Edmonton Oilers have gone 1-4 over the last five games with just 1.4 goals per game. Yeah, this is a terrific matchup for Rask, making him worth the price.
