Vigneault Comments on Stepan's Status
Sunday, Dec. 13
"What I've heard from back home is that they are both, Step and Kevin [Klein], skating at this time," Alain Vigneault said, per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News. "They started I want to say yesterday (Friday) or the day before (Thursday). What that means for time frame, I don't know. I just think they're skating on their own. Everything's moving forward, and we'll know when we get back."
Stepan Vital Cog in Rangers Offense
Stepan, 25, has notched six goals and six assists in 23 games for the Rangers this season. He scored 16 or more goals for the Rangers in each of his first five seasons in the league.
The Rangers will likely call up a young player such as Ryan Bourque, Jayson Megna or Adam Tambellini to take Stepan's roster spot. J.T. Miller, Derick Brassard and Mats Zuccarello will likely comprise the team's top line, as they did Saturday in a loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, while Rick Nash, Chris Kreider and Kevin Hayes will make up the second.
