Garrett Celek Injury: Updates on 49ers TE's Ankle and Return
San Francisco 49ers tight end Garrett Celek suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 12 against the Arizona Cardinals.
The 27-year-old's injury occurred in the first quarter when a teammate, running back Shaun Draughn, rolled up under his ankle. Celek went down clutching his leg and was loaded onto a cart before being taken to the locker room.
It is unclear when Celek will return to action.

Celek's Injury Will Further Test 49ers' TE Depth
When the 49ers traded Vernon Davis to the Denver Broncos, Celek became the team's No. 1 tight end. He has started eight games this season, already setting career highs in receptions (19), yards (186) and touchdowns (three).
San Francisco's offense did get a boost in Week 12 with the return of wide receiver Anquan Boldin, but the loss of Celek takes away quarterback Blaine Gabbert's safety net. Vance McDonald will be elevated into a more prominent role with Celek out, but the 49ers can also rely on rookie Blake Bell to take snaps.
