Simeone Positive About Tiago Return
Sunday, Nov. 29
Atletico manager Diego Simeone said he wanted to send "the energy of the club" to Tiago, per Sky Sports.
"Tiago got injured, but we are already counting the days until he will return," Simeone said. "He has enormous energy levels, and he will return when the time is right and he feels good. I want to send him the energy of the club, the fans and the playing staff and to tell him we love him a lot."
Tiago Absence Will Force Atletico Changes
The Portuguese player has been ever-present for Simeone this term, featuring 18 times for the Rojiblancos in La Liga and Champions League action combined, according to WhoScored.com.
Tiago adds experience to Simeone's options, and he will be sorely missed by his team-mates as they pursue Barcelona in the league.
Simeone suggested Saul Niguez or Matias Kranevitter, who will arrive from River Plate in January, could replace Tiago as he looks to balance his squad in light of the midfielder's injury, per Sky Sports.
Tiago's best work is often unseen, but his absence will put pressure on the club to think about additions in the January transfer window.
