Manchester United Transfer News: Cristiano Ronaldo, Gianluigi Donnarumma Rumours

Cristiano Ronaldo is ready to snub any offer from Paris Saint-Germain and rejoin Manchester United.

Simon Mullock of the Mirror said the Real Madrid icon is "excited by the prospect of once again wearing United’s red shirt" and has no ambition or will to play in Ligue 1 for the French champions. Ronaldo is said to understand a move to PSG "will do nothing for his reputation," and his love for the Red Devils and the Premier League will be central to his decision-making. 

Spanish newspaper El Confidencial (h/t Metro's Tom Olver) reported Ronaldo is "clear" he will depart the Galacticos in the summer, and United and PSG are the sides most likely to benefit from the player's exit.

However, Mullock's report now makes United favourites to capture the Ballon d'Or holder, despite PSG holding the financial advantage. The Parisians are ready to pay wages of £500,000 per week in order to lure the attacker to the Parc des Princes, but it appears Ronaldo will make a decision with his heart and head and opt for an emotional return to Old Trafford. 

United boss Louis van Gaal recently confirmed he would be overjoyed if Ronaldo chooses to tread the boards in north-west England once more, but he is looking at a number of options to boost his failing attack, per Mullock: 

"Ronaldo plays on the wings, and he is fast and scores goals. There is no trainer in the world that doesn't like him. Of course we are looking—but are looking at all players, not just Ronaldo. But these players are mostly ungettable. With Ronaldo, let's wait and hope."

The player continues to be a regular scorer in Spain, hitting 15 goals in 17 appearances in La Liga and Europe for Madrid this term, according to WhoScored.com.

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague told the Football Republic that Ronaldo's "head" is no longer at the Bernabeu, but a new challenge at PSG could still tempt the player despite the links to United:

The heat behind Ronaldo's expected exit from Real has reached boiling point, and coupled with Los Merengues' lack of performance on the pitch, it appears the player's days in La Liga are numbered. 

In other news, United have been told they will have to break the world-record transfer fee if they have ambitions of capturing AC Milan teenager Gianluigi Donnarumma, after his agent Mino Raiola said the goalkeeper is worth £119 million.

The representative told Sport Mediaset (h/t George Bellshaw of Metro) Donnarumma is a superstar in the making, after the 16-year-old broke into the Milan starting XI: "He’s worth £119 million. He has a great future and he is an amazing guy. He can become a great champion."

Raiola is also the agent of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and he believes any purchasing club would have to find the extraordinary fee to steal the player from the San Siro, with United and Chelsea both interested, per Bellshaw. 

Ronaldo, on the other hand, has a straight decision to make when the time comes to choose between his former love and a potential new relationship with cash-rich PSG.

The French club are much better placed to offer the Portuguese a chance of adding a third Champions League title to his trophy haul. 

PSG might have the financial muscle to get Ronaldo, but with the Premier League TV deal kicking in next season, United will be armed with a war chest to acquire the very best on the planet. The new English football TV deal is a 70 per cent increase on the previous one, as confirmed by BBC Sport. It will provide Ronaldo the stage and wages he craves at the forefront of European club football.

The possibility of Ronaldo rejoining United is no longer in the realm of fantasy, and the club's former player will have the opportunity to write his most impassioned chapter if he decides to once again wear red.
