Bryce Brown Released by Seahawks: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

Adam WellsNov 28, 2015

The Bryce Brown train in Seattle has been derailed once again, as the Seahawks have released the veteran running back less than one week after bringing him back.

According to the Seahawks' official website, Brown was released to make room for cornerback Jeremy Lane after he was activated off the physically unable to perform list.

Brown was in the midst of his second stint with Seattle this season. He originally signed with the Seahawks in October but didn't appear in a game before being waived on Nov. 21. He re-signed with the team earlier this week before starting running back Marshawn Lynch underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia.

Even though it appeared as though Brown would finally have an opportunity to appear in a game with Seattle in light of Lynch being on the shelf, the Seahawks found a capable replacement in Thomas Rawls, who is currently averaging six yards per carry. Veteran running back Fred Jackson will serve as Rawls' backup until Lynch is able to return.

Brown has not played in a game since Dec. 14, 2014, as a member of the Buffalo Bills. The former Kansas State star has run for 1,004 yards in 39 career games.

Being an NFL running back can be a difficult job because teams are able to find starters in more avenues than at other positions. Brown has unfortunately not been able to connect with a team in the last year, but at just 24 and with a history of solid production, he should get a chance to stick with a roster at least before training camp begins next year.
