Chelsea Transfer News: Alex Teixeira Reveals Blues, PSG and Juventus Interest

Gianni VerschuerenNov 27, 2015

Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Alex Teixeira has told reporters, Chelsea, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have all approached him with an eye on a transfer, showering Blues manager Jose Mourinho with praise in the process.

Speaking to Brazilian news outlet Lance (h/t London Evening Standard's Vaishali Bhardwaj), the 25-year-old claims Chelsea and Juventus have advanced furthest in negotiations, although he's certain he won't be leaving Ukraine in January:

"

What I saw and what my agent said was that Chelsea, Juventus and PSG have made proposals. But Chelsea and Juventus are deeper in the negotiations. They are three big clubs. Where I go, I'll be happy. [The Premier League] is my dream. I'm happy to get a proposal from Chelsea, a big club in Europe, but my agent takes care of it.

For January, I believe it is very difficult to leave because it is in the middle of the championship. Shakhtar told me they will not release me in January; only at the end of the season. But I'm with a clear head. [Mourinho] is the world's best. I'll learn a lot. Hope he doesn't leave Chelsea. I want to work with him and have great success.

Teixeira is enjoying another fantastic season with Shakhtar, scoring almost at will in the Ukrainian league and in Europe. He struck twice during the 4-3 loss against Real Madrid, bringing his total in the Champions League to three this season.

Per sports journalist Phil Kitromilides, his domestic numbers are nothing short of sensational:

Teixeira is an attacking midfielder who does his best work playing just behind the striker. His statistical output has increased dramatically since Douglas Costa left Shakhtar for Bayern Munich, and he currently forms a fantastic duo with Bernard in Shakhtar's midfield.

The Ukrainian side have developed a reputation for handing Brazilian talent the perfect launch platform in Europe, and the likes of Costa, Willian and Luiz Adriano have all completed moves to top clubs after several seasons with Shakhtar.

Bernard and Teixeira are next in line, and Everton reportedly eyed the former last summer, per the Daily Mirror's David Anderson.

Teixeira's links with Chelsea have been the strongest ever since he told reporters he wanted to play for the Blues, per talkSPORT's Charlie Bennett. Here's a look at what he would bring to Stamford Bridge:

Teixeira's current scoring form has been sensational, but his passing ability and vision remain his biggest assets. He has quick feet and natural pace, which serve him well when playing the counter-attack, and he displays a healthy work ethic doing his defensive duties in midfield.

In many ways, he would be a great replacement for Chelsea star Oscar, who has struggled early in the 2015-16 campaign and wasn't one of the Blues' top performers last season, either. The Brazilian is supremely talented, but he has hardly progressed since arriving in West London in 2012.

It's worth mentioning that Teixeira is relatively untested outside of the weaker Ukrainian league, but so were Costa and Willian. The former has been an instant hit with Bayern Munich after moving there this summer, and the latter has arguably been Chelsea's best player this season.

The Blues have already found success with a former Shakhtar player, and judging by his latest comments, Teixeira is hopeful he could join his compatriot at Stamford Bridge before long.
