Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Triple H and The Authority Interfere
The most likely outcome at TLC is Triple H and The Authority getting involved in the main event and costing Reigns the chance at the world championship.
WWE is dead set on making Reigns a top face in the company, and officials feel like the easiest way to get him over with the skeptical hardcore fans will be to continue stacking the odds against him before he eventually overcomes them.
Doesn’t that sound familiar, John Cena?
There is no doubt that a large contingent of fans who do enjoy Reigns want to see him chasing after the world title, and stripping it away every time he gets close creates a viable underdog that many members of the WWE Universe can support.
Unfortunately for WWE, there are many wrestling fans who see right through the facade and will not support Reigns. The more the company builds him as a top face when a vocal portion of the fanbase dislikes him, the more people will feel that he is being forced down their throats.
Reigns Wins Clean
If WWE officials are truly behind Reigns as the top face, he should win the world heavyweight championship at TLC. After seeing the ratings for last week’s episode of Raw, the company needs to make a major change.
Reigns may not be the long-term answer as champion, but having the title change hands will create a buzz with more fans than when Sheamus won. The current formula isn’t working, and the hope from many is that Sheamus is simply a transitional champion.
Even hardcore skeptics of Reigns will admit he is likely a better option as the world champion heading into WrestleMania 32 season than Sheamus, whether they like where the storyline looks to be going or not.
On the other hand, the sooner Reigns wins the championship and potentially doesn’t impact the slumping ratings, the more quickly WWE will be able to decide if Reigns is the face of the future or if it should turn him heel heading into WrestleMania.
