WWE SmackDown Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from Nov. 26

The Doctor Chris MuellerNov 26, 2015

Every week on Bleacher Report, I take an in-depth look at WWE SmackDown to recap the action, offer analysis and grade the matches, segments and anything else that takes place on the show, as well as make a few predictions for future events.

Thanksgiving episodes of SmackDown have been hit-or-miss over the years, and Thursday's episode probably fell more into the miss column for most people.

The show only featured five matches, and while the majority of them produced some good performances, it just didn't feel like there was a good flow to the show.

One development we saw was the naming of a new No. 1 contender to the Intercontinental Championship, so at least WWE is putting some effort into planning this year's Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view.

Let's take a look at everything that happened on this week's SmackDown.

Opening Segment

1 of 8

Roman Reigns opened the show with a promo in the ring alongside a table, a ladder and a chair. He talked about growing up with The Usos and wrestling them all over their houses. Apparently a coffee table or two got broken along the way.

Before long, Sheamus came out to rain on his parade and rub the fact he won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in Reigns' face.

Sheamus thought of several things that lasted longer than the time Reigns had the belt. He put over Reigns for having two great matches at Survivor Series, but it was only so he could brag about defeating him in a matter of seconds.

Reigns threatened to walk up the ramp and take Sheamus out, but he never did anything. It was a standard heel vs. babyface promo, but it got the job done.

Grade: C+

Notes and Highlights

  • Sheamus comparing Reigns to an Adele song was pretty funny.
  • The level of enthusiasm Sheamus had during this segment was off the charts.
  • WWE clearly turned up the crowd noise at one point in this segment.
  • WWE didn't put this on YouTube, so instead you can watch This Week in WWE History where Corey Graves and Kyle Edwards highlight the only Turkey on a Pole match to ever take place. It's the one bout that can be considered dumber than the Judy Bagwell on a Pole match from WCW.

The Dudley Boyz vs. Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman

2 of 8

When you put four powerful people like Bubba Ray, D-Von, Braun Strowman and Erick Rowan in the same match, you know it's going to be a hard-hitting brawl.

It's great to see The Dudley Boyz mixing it up with so many different people on the roster. Their feud with The New Day was a good start, but a program with The Wyatt Family could be epic.

This was a solid match. It was nothing special, but it was enough to keep fans invested until the very end when The Wyatt Family was disqualified thanks to outside interference from Luke Harper.

Grade: C+

Notes and Highlights

  • Strowman's limitations are starting to become more noticeable. He was brought up too soon.
  • Someone needs to start a Twitter campaign to bring back Spike Dudley. Even it's just for one night.
  • I like how Bubba looked right at Bray Wyatt when he screamed "D-Von, get the tables!"

Paige vs. Becky Lynch

3 of 8

Becky Lynch and Paige definitely came to play in this one. They had a physical match that allowed both women to show off what makes them so much fun to watch.

Paige played a great heel, while Lynch played the hero we all love. These two women could have a great feud with or without the title.

The Glampire picked up a dirty win when she held the ropes during a pinning combination. We've seen better performances from both women, but they did a good job telling a story.

Grade: B

Notes and Highlights

  • WWE must have heard people complaining about how short the Divas match was on Raw because this bout was given two full segments to play out.
  • Lynch's entrance music fits her so well. Her energy matches the song perfectly.
  • Charlotte and Lynch haven't accompanied each other to the ring for a few weeks. It looks like they are staying friends but going their separate ways.

Thanksgiving

4 of 8

The New Day and Team Bad had a segment backstage with a table full of traditional Thanksgiving foods. Kofi Kingston seemed especially excited to see two different kinds of potatoes.

Heath Slater showed up with some Slaterslaw, but there was a dirty bandage in the bowl so nobody wanted to partake. Everyone was equally disgusted when Adam Rose showed up with some rabbit stew.

They kicked The Ascension out for not bringing anything to the meal. The Gobbledy Gooker showed up, but it turned out to be Xavier Woods in a turkey suit.

The only surprising thing about this segment was the fact nobody was covered in food by the end. Other than Woods in the Gobbledy Gooker suit, nothing stood out.

Grade: C-

Notes and Highlights

  • Fun Fact: Hector Guerrero played the Gobbledy Gooker in the original segment.
  • Heath Slater was featured on both Raw and SmackDown this week. His stock is rising.
  • Adam Rose's character hasn't been used enough for people to understand what his new gimmick is supposed to be.

Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger

5 of 8

Zeb Colter's current client took on his former protege when Alberto Del Rio clashed with Jack Swagger. We knew this match would happen eventually, but it's a little surprising to see it take place on SmackDown.

It makes sense WWE wouldn't throw Swagger into a U.S. title bout after such a long period of stagnation, but this seemed like a feud that would occupy a slot on a pay-per-view.

Perhaps they will end up having a match at TLC. Swagger was able to pick up the win by disqualification, but it's going to take more than that to convince fans he deserves a shot at the belt.

Swagger and Del Rio have worked together several times over the years, so they have built up some decent chemistry between them. But this didn't live up to their past performances.

However, it was nice to see Swagger portrayed as a real threat to Del Rio's title reign. With the right booking, he could be a solid, mid-card star again.

Grade: C

Notes and Highlights

  • The promo Del Rio and Colter gave before the match just proves they don't belong together. It was boring and did nothing to build their heel personas.
  • Two disqualifications out of five matches is too high of a percentage. Whoever booked this show got lazy.
  • Why is Colter still using that scooter?

The New Day vs. Lucha Dragons

6 of 8

This is a feud we can all get behind. The New Day and The Lucha Dragons are two teams with more talent than they know what to do with, and together they could create some memorable matches.

Everyone thought Woods was still wearing the turkey costume, but when he knocked Kofi Kingston's foot off the rope when he tried to use it for leverage, we knew something was up.

It turned out to be Jey Uso in the outfit. He and Jimmy had tied up Woods and taken it from him, leading to a brawl between the two teams after the match.

Seeing as Kalisto picked up a clean win for his team, The Lucha Dragons will likely be granted a title shot at TLC. It's possible The Usos will also be involved after the shenanigans they pulled.

This was a good match with some humor thrown in for good measure. It's just what the show needed.

Grade: B

Notes and Highlights

  • It's good Woods isn't using the trombone in every single match. It was starting to become annoying, but that might be the point. Heels are supposed to bug you.
  • Does it bother anyone else that Woods was tied up wearing nothing but his boxers?
  • Here's how you tell The Usos apart. Jimmy always paints the right side of his face, while Jey paints the left side.

Dean Ambrose vs. Tyler Breeze vs. Dolph Ziggler

7 of 8

Dean Ambrose, Tyler Breeze and Dolph Ziggler each bring something different to the table, and when you put all three of them in the same ring, it's bound to be a good match.

Kevin Owens joined the commentary table to watch these three men fight for a chance at the Intercontinental Championship.

Everyone was on point in this bout. It was easily the best match of the night, and it showcased three men who always leave everything they have in the ring.

Ambrose won by pinning Breeze with Dirty Deeds. Going from being in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament to fighting for the IC title might seem like a downgrade, but Ambrose is the kind of guy who can make any title seem important.

Grade: B+

Notes and Highlights

  • Kevin Owens on commentary will never get old.
  • WWE should shell out the money to get Ziggler a Motley Crue song for his entrance.
  • Rich Brennan has officially become Michael Cole Jr. He dresses like him, sounds like him and is even starting to look like him.

Final Thoughts and Predictions

8 of 8

Five matches is pretty light for an episode of SmackDown. A lot of time was devoted to video packages and backstage antics this week.

WWE always has a Thanksgiving episode, but the one thing that didn't happen this year is someone being covered in an assortment of foods.

Ambrose, Breeze and Ziggler definitely stole the show from everyone else, but The New Day and The Lucha Dragons put on an entertaining performance.

It felt like WWE was planting the seeds for some matches that will take place at TLC by sprinkling in certain weapons throughout the night, so we will have to wait and see if anything develops.

TLC takes place in roughly two weeks, so there is only so much time left to fill up the card. Let's hope we see more storyline advancements on Monday.

Predictions

  • Ambrose and Owens' IC title bout at TLC will be made into a Ladder match.
  • The New Day will defend the Tag Team Championships against at least two other teams at TLC.
  • Jack Swagger and Alberto Del Rio will have a Chairs match at TLC.
  • The Dudley Boyz will face someone in a Tables match at TLC.
  • Stardust and Goldust will have a singles match at TLC.

What did you think of this week's SmackDown? Happy Thanksgiving!
