Ashwin took 5-32 while Ravindra Jadeja weighed in with 4-33 as India ran through the tourists on a sharply spinning pitch.
Only JP Duminy's 35 provided any resistance for the Proteas, who succumbed to the lowest total put up by a Test side against India.

India went on to make 173 in their second innings, leaving South Africa requiring 310 to win and level the series on a challenging pitch.
