Barcelona Overtake Real Madrid as Europe's All-Time Leading Scorers

Humbled in the Clasico on Saturday evening and now surpassed atop the continental goalscoring charts, Real Madrid have more reason to despise Barcelona this week.

The Catalan side's impressive 6-1 Champions League thrashing of Roma at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night saw them overtake Real as European competition's all-time leading scorers.

Adriano's goal, Luis Enrique's side's sixth, was their 1,037th in the competition—one more than Real Madrid's 1,036 goals.

Of course, Rafa Benitez's side have the chance to regain that crown when they take on Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday night.

There's daylight between the two Spanish giants and third place, with Bayern Munich boasting 856 goals in European competition.
