Kevin Owens Must Be Elevated to WWE World Heavyweight Champion Contender
Kevin Owens is ready for the WWE main event picture. In fact, Kevin Owens must be elevated to a WWE World Heavyweight champion contender.
It’s not even an issue at this point. Owens capitalizes on every opportunity the WWE gives him and makes the most of it. The Intercontinental champion is a fixture in the midcard division, putting on matches worthy of airing last instead of their time slot.
Owens has capitalized on his momentum from the Elimination Chamber event, where he began a series of three sensational matches with John Cena. His current journey culminated in winning the Intercontinental title from Ryback.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Owens could have been stuck in neutral for months. Instead, he’s gotten the chance to display his wrestling prowess.
He was one of the important pieces during the WWE Championship tournament, where he defeated Titus O’Neil and Neville to advance to Survivor Series.
He fell short to Dean Ambrose at the event. However, it isn’t about the string of decisions we should focus on. WWE Creative had different plans that did not involve Owens unifying the WWE world and intercontinental titles, at least not yet.
What we should concentrate on is the body of work Owens has amassed during his main roster run. It’s more than just making an impression in the ring. The Intercontinental champion’s performances in the ring are statements he’s showing to WWE fans.
They’ve noticed, too. Owens gets a great reaction from the crowd. Some cheer, but most fans jeer him. It’s the exact response Owens wants, ever the heel. That will help him in the long run because it will force the fans to care whether or not Owens wins.
Everyone loves to boo the bad guy out of the building. Kevin Owens has had his share of booing and thus is doing his job well.
This leads to the same reaction fans give when Owens is wrestling one of the good guys. Many cheered for Neville when he almost defeated Owens. Fans also cheered when he lost to Ambrose, not just because of Ambrose’s popularity, but because of Owens’ reputation.
Owens presents himself as a prize fighter. He only wrestles when he’s prepared for a match. Owens retreats when someone challenges him in an impromptu manner.
It’s an old heel adage done by generations before him. What makes Owens different is the little things.
Look at his behavior when Owens is in the ring. Listen to the way he speaks to the crowd. He is both cocky and confident, a rare blend to pull off.
What must Kevin Owens do to be elevated to the world title picture? It doesn’t involve him losing the Intercontinental title. It’s actually a simple solution.
Kevin Owens talks a big game, but he rarely has the time to do so. We’ve only scratched the surface of Owens’ personality. Despite the bravado and wrestling ability, Kevin Owens is a caricature.
Where was the Owens who traded barbs with Cena? Where was the man who gloated after winning against arguably the face of the WWE?
That person still exists; he just hasn’t had the time to speak yet. Owens is capable of putting on great matches. But without developing his character, all will be lost for him.
More interviews are needed for Owens to make his character three-dimensional. Michael Cole’s interview of Owens shows that Owens is more than capable of talking as well as wrestling.
Kevin Owens must be elevated to the WWE World Heavyweight championship picture. Frankly, it’s not a matter of how or if, but when. It’s only a matter of time when Kevin Owens gets involved in the title hunt.
