Angel Di Maria Facebook Post Denied After Cristiano Ronaldo PSG Transfer Hint

Matt JonesNov 24, 2015

The wife of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Angel Di Maria has denied her husband uses Facebook after a verified page under his name hinted at a possible move to the French capital for Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.

As reported by Daniel Edwards of Goal, a page allegedly linked to the Argentina international, which is verified and contains personal photographs, posted an image of the pair during their time together at Los Blancos with an accompanying caption of "Soon my friend. Cristiano Ronaldo."

Here’s a look at the post on the page in question, which has now been removed from the social media platform, per Bateson:

It was a post that set social media ablaze, and although the account seems authentic at first glance, Di Maria’s other half, Jorgelina Cardoso, posted on her Instagram account that "Angel does NOT use Facebook, he does NOT use Twitter," per Edwards.

The timing of the post made it a social media sensation, with speculation already swirling when it comes to the future of Ronaldo at Real Madrid.

According to Jason Burt of the Daily Telegraph, there is genuine interest in Ronaldo from both Manchester United and PSG, although he wrote that if Real do decide to cash in on the 30-year-old at the end of this season, it’s likely that the Portuguese will end up in the French capital.

Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones explains why the La Liga giants may consider selling their prized asset:

Di Maria and Ronaldo were great friends during their time at Real Madrid before the former was sold on to Manchester United. After a disappointing debut campaign at Old Trafford, in which the pressure of Ronaldo’s old No. 7 jersey weighed heavy on his shoulders, Di Maria departed for Paris and is beginning to rediscover his best form once again.

Linking up with his friend for a second time would surely appeal to Ronaldo, who may well have a big decision to make over his future in the coming months. United, where he remains adored by the supporters, would also be a tantalising option for a player who relishes being the main man at a football club.

Nooruddean Choudry of Joe.co.uk believes some fans could be divided on the re-signing of Ronaldo:

A move to PSG does seem the more likely course of action for this great player, though. Ronaldo has achieved everything possible at Real Madrid and after becoming the club’s all-time record goalscorer earlier in the season, his sharpness around the penalty area seems to have been slightly blunted.

At the Parc des Princes, fresh challenges and renewed motivation await. So it’d be no great shock to see the former team-mates reunited in the French capital next season.
