Arsenal Transfer News: Latest on Mesut Ozil, Isco and Top Gunners Rumours

Stuart NewmanNov 23, 2015

Mesut Ozil has reportedly committed his future to Arsenal by agreeing to sign a new deal at the club.

The German has been one of the Gunners’ standout stars in 2015/16, delivering the kind of performances he promised upon his £42.4 million arrival at the Emirates in 2013.

That much made Ozil a big priority to tie down to a new contract, and Spanish outlet Don Balon reports an agreement has been reached between the club and the player (via Jamie Sanderson of Metro).

The World Cup winner was previously linked with a move to Serie A champions Juventus, per Calciomercato (via Metro’s Mark Brus), but reports of the deal mean the Italian giants will have to look elsewhere for a new No. 10.

However, Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin believes Juve won’t find a better option elsewhere, as he recently said Ozil is the best attacking midfielder in the business, per Sky Sports (via James Benge of the London Evening Standard): "He is one of the most intelligent players I've played with and has an eye for the pass that no one else sees. I don't think there's a better No 10 than him at the moment. When he first came to Arsenal we were all very excited and now he's showing us what he's all about."

Here’s a reminder of exactly why Bellerin is such a fan of Ozil:

Don Balon’s report states a deal was actually reached back in September, but Arsenal have been holding back from revealing the news until Alexis Sanchez put pen to paper on an extended contract of his own.

That brings about more good news for Gunners fans: The Chilean reportedly extended his stay at the Emirates Stadium last week.

Tying down your best players is undoubtedly good business, but Arsenal fans want to see some new additions head to north London to underline their credentials as Premier League title contenders.

One man who would certainly quench supporters’ thirst is Isco, who’s been linked with a switch to the Emirates for some time now.

Fichajes reported Arsenal were preparing a bid for the midfielder in October (via George Bellshaw of Metro), and now, it seems the player himself could be open to a move.

As Marca reports, Isco’s exclusion from Real Madrid’s starting 11 in Saturday’s El Clasico left him feeling betrayed and second best to the club’s Galacticos—such as James Rodriguez.

The Gunners could, indeed, offer the Spaniard regular first-team action, and should they decide to put a big-money bid on the table, that will be a big lure.

Arsenal aren’t too far away from being a real force on both the domestic and the European stages, with just a few positions left to fill with world-class assets.

Ozil and Sanchez reportedly staying put gives manager Arsene Wenger the perfect platform from which to build, but he needs to put his hand in his pocket if he’s to take the club to the next level.
